Day two in Madid

We started our day with an amazing breakfast buffet at the hotel.  I was able to book our room including breakfast for one night and without breakfast for the 2nd night since we would not have time on Monday for breakfast.  The buffet had everything you could want including some unusual items that were more like lunch. 

Today we decided that we should see some stuff, well at least drive by it.  So we decided to do the double decker bus tour .. we did want to make one stop at the street market so we got on one bus and switched lines to head to the market.  

The market was pretty amazing. There was a little bit of everything and a lot of people.  We walked around for about an hour.  My only purchase was a book to read during the rest of he trip.  Mostly due to the lack of space in our  luggage . 

Back on the bus we headed to a shopping area I wanted to walk through , and yes maybe do a little shopping .  I should have known better .  This was the 2nd Sunday I had tried to go shopping in Spain.  Everything was closed .

 We sat and had a glass of wine while being serenaded , then back on the bus to Plaza Mayor.

While watching the film last night we discovered there was a street called 7of Julio! How perfect for us, walking around  yesterday I had seen ceramic placques  with the names of the street all around plaza Mayor so I wanted to try to find one.  No luck .

We stopped for a beer and a sandwich and I definitely needed a little siesta .. back to the hotel we went .

This evening we walked a few different streets and wound up at at cafe where we decided to have a drink and once we started to see some food come out we decided to stay for dinner .  We had potatoes bravas , which we have had any times in Spain, a nice salad and pizza.  All of it was very good.  

Then walked back to the hotel and off to bed.  Tomorrow we head to Pamplona on the 735am train!
